Jones is a phenomenal athlete with explosive power out of the backfield and a top gear to make the big play at any given time. He has great ball skills and acceleration to go along with his change of direction ability to make him deadly in the open field.
A former cornerback, Jones has come a long way as a player and is an extremely motivated person but remains a very raw prospect. While some scouts will question his level of competition, his production simply cannot be ignored when time after time he had success even when defenses knew the run was coming.
He has major durability question marks after breaking his fibula in 2008, injuring both shoulders in the 2009 pre-season and he also had sports hernia surgery before last season. His most recent broken foot that cost him the chance at playing in the championship game this year and also caused him to miss a majority of his post-season workouts, including the NFL combine.
This guy is just oozing with athletic ability and will bring another dimension to a team’s offense because of his great change of direction skills and elite speed. He might be drafted a little higher than some suspect due to his upside and potential.
Jones will be making plays on Sundays but he must find a way to stay on the field and out of the trainer’s room if he wants to fulfill his great potential. He has the chance to be an all-world runner at the next level that will be a vital part of a team’s offense.
